Leaders in sustainable businesses understand the importance of defining sustainability for their business and incorporating the philosophy of thinking sustainability throughout the organization and an integral of strategic planning.

Systems thinking (life cycle thinking, although they don't really use the term). It's not just a set of metrics, although they are a necessary part.  It's positioning your company to thrive in a resource limited world.
