The World Business Council for Sustainable Development has released the Life Cycle Metrics for Chemical Products, a guideline for using consistent metrics to describe the environmental footprint of a chemical product. The guide is full of useful references and examples and is up front about how much information still needs to be developed to fully understand life cycle impacts. Further guidance on the social impacts of chemical products is expected in 2015.
