EPA released its review of 3 chemicals under its TSCA  document.write(" 3, 4,6,7,8-Hexahydro-4,6,6,7,8,8,-hexamethylcyclopenta-[?]-2-benzopyran (HHCB) used as a fragrance ingredient in commercial and consumer products." target="_blank">Work Plan program.  Two don't need action, but one does.

Dichloromethane (DCM) or methylene chloride in paint stripping is a concern for neurotoxicity, especially for consumer use.  EPA will be looking at ways to get voluntary action (substitution) and using its authorities under TSCA to regulate it.  It's likely to take action against n-methyl pyrrolidone in strippers as well.  EPA emphasized the need to use such strippers in well-ventilated areas only.  Safer alternatives exist, but they don't work as fast.

Getting passes for lack of concern for ecological risks: antimony trioxide used with halogenated flame retardants and Hexahydrohexamethylcyclopentabenzopyran (HHCB) used as a fragrance ingredient in commercial and consumer products.
